The property is a Grade 2 Listed farmhouse and associated outbuildings in Coaley, Gloucestershire. The brief develops the small Victorian red brick building into an annexe to the main farmhouse. The single storey, tin roof piggery is also included in the scheme.
The design proposal is that of a 'light touch' with the existing buildings whilst providing a glass link between the two to maximise floor area.
The main red brick building houses the living area at ground level and a single bedroom and bathroom at first floor. The glass link opens out into a new courtyard for dining, whilst the kitchen is housed in the single storey stone piggery building.
Both buildings are insulated internally with the piggery receiving a new galvanised steel roof, popped up for head height and clerestory glazing in the kitchen space.
