BROADOAK
A contemporary new build 4-bed house in Gloucestershire.

Inspired by the abundance of red brick, terracotta and traditional Victorian walled gardens in the local context, our proposal carves out a unique set of sequential spaces on this flat site with views towards the Severn.

Utilising a strong gable form, synonymous with rural properties in the area, the ground floor explores a more contemporary form and set at 90 degrees to the upper floor, creating one edge of the private garden. The walled garden not only controls the entry sequence, but provides enclosure to the south facing garden off the main living spaces. Furthermore, the walled boundary helps to create privacy, both visually and acoustically, from the main road adjacent to the site.
